Where do you cut flowers on the stem?

I have:

1. Sunflowers

2. Daisies

3. Carnations

4. Zinnias

5. Baby%26#039;s Breath

6. Bachelor%26#039;s Buttons

Is there a GENERAL place to cut these flowers for bouquets, etc, on the stem? Like I heard for roses you need to cut three leaves down or something? What about these flowers I have listed? Where do I cut them?

Where do you cut flowers on the stem?
depends on the size of the vase or whatever you are putting them in, etc

one thing i DO know is that you cut them diagonally, so they can get the most amount of water sucking up in the stem =)
Reply:to the length you want them at a 40% angle slantered to suck the water in better

good luck
Reply:Where it hurts them the least.
Reply:cut flowers in a garden or flower shope
Reply:about 1 1/4 of an inch up.
Reply:it depends on how long you want the bouquet, or how big your vase is
Reply:always start cutting at the bottom but cut it slanting the cut..and each day you cut a little more off but a slanted cut.

Do you think when our baby is born he will come back?

im 20 and he is 19. i am nearly 40 weeks pregnant. he broke up with me around xmas and i felt like he was a complete stranger he turned into a horrible person. i was so upset because we had been planning our future together.

recently we have been getting on well, he come round on valentines day with flowers and texts me and calls me asking if me and the baby are ok. and he has also been getting very jealous of male friends and keeps asking what im doing.

do you think that when the baby is born he will realise that he wants to be with me? i know he hasnt mentioned any thing yet to me but his quite imature and i think he aint got the balls to say he wants me back!

opinions please.

thanks,

Do you think when our baby is born he will come back?
no i dont sorry
Reply:Do what you feel is best for you and your child. but remember if he hurt you once who is to judge that he wont do it again.. best of luck
Reply:He left you when you were pregnant with his child and you%26#039;re letting HIM call the cards? He broke up with you, he played or is playing the field and then finally realizes that breaking up with you was wrong, and you%26#039;re going to sit there and wait until HE%26#039;S ready to come back? He should have came to his senses when he knocked you up! 19 or not, he abandoned his family. Why would you give him a chance to do it again? If you allow him to come back, then you are allowing him to disrespect you and you child.
Reply:Id tell him to F**K OFF.. my ex tries to say he cars about me adn the baby and says that he has gifts for me. I know its all bullshit anyways... If a guy can leave you when your carrying his baby run away FAST

How bad will these types of flowers spread?

I bought a bag of Butterfly %26amp; Hummingbird Attracting flower seeds. What I would like someone to tell me is if these are the types of flowers that will spread all over my (and my neighboors%26#039;) yard. Here%26#039;s the seeds:

Baby%26#039;s Breath

Zinnia

Chinese Forget Me Not

Bachelor Button

Cosmos Sensation

Candytuft

Shasta Daisy

Black-Eyed Susat

Alyssum

Scarlet Sage

Foxglove

Also, are these flowers ones that will come back year after year?

How bad will these types of flowers spread?
Cosmos are self re seeding and will spread , Black eyed susan will spread. What zone are you in? This will determine if they are considered hardy in your zone. Tender perennials are plants that in Southern zones are usually hardy, but in more temperate climates will only be annual. Foxglove, Forget me nots, and Baby%26#039;s Breath(Gypsophilia) are generally perennials in all zones. You will have Cosmos re seeding every year, but not the same plants coming back.Black Eyed Susan can become a nuisance, seeding itself every where, becoming invasive.
Reply:Bachelor buttons spread to a degree, but they%26#039;re not that invasive. The others are all fine. The zinna, cosos, candytuft, alyssum will last one year. The foxglove, bachelor button, daisy and black eyed susan should come back. I%26#039;m not sure about the scarlet sage or chinese forget-me-not, I don%26#039;t recognize their names as flowers that I have seen or planted.I think your butterfly garden is pretty safe not to get out of control.
Reply:The foxgloves are biennials - they make a plant the first year amn may not flower until the next. then they will seed and new plants will appear in surprising places, but they are easy to pull out if you don%26#039;t want them. Cant tell you awhat the others will do as it could depend on where you live.
Reply:some will depend on your Zone and how good your ground is. My last place I culdnt get Cosmos to grow, here it self seeds all over the place Forget me nots will also take over by slef seeding if its happy and Black eyed Susan is a perennial that spreads both by self seeding and by spreading by runners. Never grew Baby%26#039;s Breath...Zinna like to self seed, as do bachelors buttons and daisys Foxgloves have to really like their soil to ..
Reply:Naa, won%26#039;t spread. Not absolutely positive, but they all sound like annuals - - this year only unless you save seeds for next year. They will create seeds. If have concerns, pluck off the dead flowers %26amp; dispose of them or save seeds for next year. If saving seeds, make sure they are thoroughly dried out, zip lock bag %26amp; label with marker what is in it %26amp; what color.

The best thing I ever did was buy a perennial book for plants, trees, flowers that return each year. Then periodically I add annual seeds of different flowers in front %26amp; around my permanent plantings. I marked each item in that book for my zone. I can not pick %26amp; choose for sun/shade, height, color and when %26amp; how long they bloom. I also created my yard on a graph paper with each square as a foot. This helped over the years for fencing, plantings, fountain, etc... Each perennial I marked a number on my %26#039;blueprint%26#039; and the explanation of its name, etc.. on the back for future use.

Lot of work, but it reduces remeasuring over the years and moving some plants again and again.

I got myself on a catalog mailing list through Gurney%26#039;s, Burbee%26#039;s, etc... which allowwed additional options other than what is being sold in my city only. Prices was cheaper, too.

How do I send flowers to my sis-in-law in Florida when I live in the UK?

My sis-in-law in Florida gave birth to my niece last night! I live in the U.K. Is there some way I could orders flowers or a suitable gift for my sis-in-law and new born baby, to be delivered to the hospital in Tampa? I think only Interflora or Hallmark do it but they are sooo expensive and I am just a student of moderate means! Help!

How do I send flowers to my sis-in-law in Florida when I live in the UK?
The Internet is the only way in your case. Even ifyou live down here, it is expensive. However, I would not try to send it to the hospital since here in the states women only stay about 2 days and go home. Send it to her home...less stuff to carry home from the hospital. Another suggestion would be to send a plant which will continue to grow.
Reply:check yahoo
Reply:find a local florist in her area and pay via credit card or money order or whatever they say.

(no cake things though)17 wk 3 days

Baby shower.........?
i think it would be neat to have the centerpieces double as favors for guests. like these mini flower pots:

http://www.claudiasmementos.com/SAB233.a...

it also shares a %26quot;growing%26quot; experience with your guests!
Reply:The last baby shower I threw, I used square vases, put lemons and limes in the water, and placed white roses. It turned out quite pretty.
Reply:white flowers with babies breath would be pretty.
Reply:At my baby shower we gave some african violets in nice pots as some of the prizes for the games we played. Everyone loved them as prizes..and they were functional too. They come in a variety of colors including a beautiful periwinkle.
Reply:for the center peice there are blue roses and flowers that you can mix together it will look great or if you want you can use yellow flowers, for me i guess the flowers make a really nice and elegant centerpiece here are some pics it will give you some idea

Something unique and also a fun game for your guests could be to leave a cute basket in the middle of the table with several blank onesies(whatever color) and a bunch of non-toxic fabric pens. Your guests could decorate the onesies at the tables. That way it is a cute idea and also functional--your baby gets a bunch of onesies with memories already attached!
Reply:I like the white flowers. Maybe you can get vases that could fit in a cloth diaper. Get some cloth diapers and fold around the vases. Make it look like it is a real diaper folded properly. I that makes sense.
Reply:since it sounds classy, you should get tall square or round vases, fill them with blue and or while marbles/stones, and get some long stemmed flowers to place in there as well.
Reply:colored sand filled baby bottles or flowers sticking out of baby bottles
Reply:take the vaces and put these blue marble things that wal-mart has in the craft section,, then put white flowers comming out
Reply:Toy dump truck with flowers in the back or balloons with colored sand bags holding them
Reply:I vote for the colored sand. using pastel, would be lovely.
