Unique baby shower....?

I%26#039;m trying to get ideas for baby showers. I would like to have more of a fancier and relaxing shower... maybe outside, with a lot of flowers and wine glasses * no alcohol*, but I would like ideas on anything you can give me on this.... or what is the neatest baby shower you%26#039;ve attended or had. I don%26#039;t want the usual one at someone%26#039;s house and the rectangular cake with old games... please give me ideas.. I%26#039;m not sure what I%26#039;m having yet btw.

Unique baby shower....?
Were having the same dilemma with my sons birthday party its in two weeks and i wanted it to be unique and different as well.

Venues.

1. what about a restaurant with out side seating, that can be reserved. I have never herd of a baby shower at a restaurant before.

2. A friend or family members backyard if they have a nice one. With round tables and white linens. Then go to a flower shop and look at bouquets for center pieces. Then have soft colored balloons since you don%26#039;t know the sex yet.

cakes

1. Cupcakes are the new modern cakes. You can have them on a tire and do them in light pastel colors as well. first layer soft pink (strawberry) second layer yellow (lemon) and third blue (blueberry)

2. Do a 2 layer cake. Find a baker who is in your area at a good price. Then do a swirl design or hearts maybe. With some booties at the top..

I%26#039;m doing my sons party at the zoo and having gift bags instead of loot bags, we are also having a three layer cake.

Good luck!~
Reply:A tea party in the garden would be a lot of fun!

My friends are giving me a Victorian Tea Party Baby shower this Sat. very elegant and relaxing. We%26#039;ll have little sandwiches and scones (with devonshire cream etc) and of course tea. One game is that everyone gets a decorated sugar cube in a tulle bag at the beginning, the person that gets the bag with the baby themed sugar cube wins a prize (all the other sugar cubes have roses on them).

They found the favors and the sugar cubes on e-bay, and everyone is very excited about attending.
Reply:We are personally doing a family picnic/bbq with everyone invited and depending on the weather will probably do everything outside and just enjoy the day. My babies crib theme is rainforest animals so we are trying to come up with some cute rainforest themed stuff to do with food and decorations and whatnot.
Reply:well i didn%26#039;t want to have a traditional baby shower either so I think my friends are throwing me an actual party with about 100+ people. DJs and all i think its going to be more of a night club scene.
Reply:I know you said no alcohol, but having alcohol for the guests wouldn%26#039;t be out of the question.

I recently attended one where the guests all sent in baby pictures of themselves -- many of which were family members. The host set it up as a collage, and everyone had to match baby pictures to names. It was silly, but it also made a nice keepsake for the mother to be.
Reply:you can serve party punch(sherbert, ginger ale,7 up) and mimoso%26#039;s...my mom always had tons of flowers on the tables. now you can go to a fav bakery and they have so many different options with cakes now. you don%26#039;t have to do a sheet cake. you can even do a 2 or 3 tier cake!! you don%26#039;t have to have games, or maybe just a few. i always wanted salads and lighter food. so my mom went to jersey mikes and order wraps... whatever food you are loving at the time its up tp you. my sister had a huge shower and it was so nice. they rented out a home, decorated it, and had a dj, bartender ,catered food with a staff passing food out. it was really nice, they played a few games!
